Afternoon Ride
I felt OK by the afternoon so I headed out for a 31.5K ride, 3 times around the triathlon 10K race loop. It was slow, it was windy, and it didn't feel all that great, but I'm glad I did it. I tried to stick to low gears and spin a bit, but I'm not real good at it - much rather stick the bike in a high gear and use my strength. I'll keep working on it.
I'll take a rest day tomorrow.

A windy day is bad enough when running; must be worse riding a bike, Bennyr; you sure work hard & deserve the success you'll get. LL
Ben, all the research goes against your 'common wisdom' about pushing high gears. Spin, spin, spin! Endurance is sooo much better, and it applies as much for Tri's as for road cycling. Optimally, keep your cadence close to 90 + or - 10 rpm. It might feel strange at first, especially because you can push a big gear, but this works, and is much kinder on the body!
Cheers
